Gift a book

This Christmas Chorleywood and Gerrards Cross Bookshops are giving back to our local communities and we need your help to do it!

To read is one of the greatest joys we have but sadly not every child has the access to the wonderful books that we take for granted. That’s why Chorleywood and Gerrards Cross Bookshops started Gift a Book, as a way of giving underprivileged children in Herts and Bucks a new book to love and cherish at Christmas.

We launched Gift a Book in 2016 and we are delighted to have had the privilege of donating 690 books to local underprivileged children.

Here’s what you do…

1. Select the Gift a Book ticket on the right hand side of the screen.
2. Then you have the option to donate £5.00 or £10.00 (or more) to our Gift a Book program. Then click buy ticket!
3. You will be taken to the ‘Order Summary’ page. In the comment box you can write which book it is you’d like to purchase or if you leave it blank one of our bookshop team will select a book for you.
4. And that’s it! You will have donated a book to a disadvantaged child this Christmas from the comfort of your sofa or desk!

This year Gift a Book will be liaising with local organisations and charities, all of which offer support and provide many necessities to underprivileged children under eighteen years of age.

*Please note if you have chosen a specific title and the title is not £10.00 the remaining money will go back into the Gift a Book organisation and will be used towards another great read for an underprivileged child.

Charities and organisation we support include:

• The Dorcas Project and The Castle Fields Children’s Centre and Three Rivers Child’s Centre. All of these offer support and provide many necessities to underprivileged children aged between three and eighteen.
• Storybook Dads, a service allowing prisoners to record a story onto a CD for their children
• Child Bereavement UK for the Watford branch
• Wycombe Woman’s Refuge
• Playskill in Hemel Hempstead
• An underprivileged school in Southall where 90% of students where refugees
• Over 1000 books collected so far!
