In what is turning out to be a rapidly-moving situation, we wanted to take the opportunity to update you on our latest plans as the situation with COVID-19 continues to develop.

From Monday 23^rd March, both the Chorleywood Bookshop and Gerrards Cross Bookshop will be closed to customers. We will, however, continue to supply you with books from a distance, by taking your orders by email.

We have not taken this decision lightly, especially as the shops are places that so many of you enjoy visiting; however, in light of current government advice about social distancing we feel it is the responsible thing to do. Your health and well-being, along with that of our team, remain our primary concern.

We appreciate this news will raise some questions in your mind, so we have tried to answer some of them in the information outlined below.

If you have an existing order with us, we will call you to pay for your order over the phone. You can then receive your order by one of the following routes:

• You can collect your order from the doorstep of the shop at a pre-arranged time
• We can post your order to your home if you live further afield. A postage charge will apply

For new orders, we will post your books to anywhere in the UK. A postage charge will apply.

As you will probably already know, we have cancelled or postponed all forthcoming events until further notice.

We are working hard to get books to you in new ways in light of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. Books can be such a great source of enlightenment and solace, especially in these challenging times – so please rest assured, we are doing as much as we can to provide you with new and interesting books to meet your needs.

Thank you so much for all your support over the past few weeks as the enormity of the situation has become increasingly apparent. We are very grateful for your kind words and good wishes; they really do mean a lot to us.

We will update you on any further developments to our services as and when they develop. In the meantime, we hope you are all safe and well and taking as much comfort as you can from reading.
