Join us to hear authors chat about their current publication and share the inspiration behind their books. Come alone or with friends – the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, and we generally serve refreshments. These are really sociable occasions: great opportunities to meet like-minded people, as well as to hear how a writer thinks or writes or researches. Listening to someone talk about their work – fiction or non-fiction – brings it to life. If you’ve already read the book, you’ll understand it in a new light; if you’ve still to start, then once you’ve had an author’s insights, the words will spring off the page in a very specific and personal way.

The talk generally lasts around an hour, including questions from the audience. Afterwards, there’s usually the chance to meet the writer and ask them to sign a copy of their book.

We welcome number one Sunday Times bestselling author Adele Parks to Chorleywood on May 19th at 7pm at Chorleywood Library.

Adele will give a creative writing masterclass on writing your first novel plus a talk about her new book "Just my Luck".

Adele will offer encouragement and a one-foot-in-front-of-the-other practical guide to the elusive art, craft and graft of fiction writing.
